Kagami Biraki at wedding party

What is Kagami Biraki?
A traditional Japanese custom and dedicated to the god: sake is stored in a cask (Komodaru) and a toast is made to the God. Kagami Biraki is done to wish happiness and success for the future and usually associated with the celebrations in the completion of a new home, marriage anniversaries, wedding parties and much more.

Before the ceremony of Kagami Biraki, the lid of the Komodaru( or Ohdaru) is opened and sake is placed inside. At a wedding party, for example, the bride and bridegroom hold a wooden hammer together and break the lid of Komodaru. And then the Sake inside in the Komodaru is served to everybody at the party.
One of the features of Komodaru is the cask takes on the fragrant smell of sake.
Komodaru is made of the finest Japanese cedar and adds to the robust taste of the sake.
Ohdaru
However, we recommend to only keep the sake in the Komodaru for a few days before your celebration, any longer than two weeks the wood
will absorb too much of the sake and the smell may become annoying.
So, please put Sake in Komodaru a few days before use.
Ohdaru
Cold beer in Ohdaru Sake is normally contained in Komodaru (Ohdaru), however anything can be added, such as cold canned beer, sweets, cakes, etc. The Komodaru celebration will bring harmony to all involved by sharing what was in the Komodaru.

Please enjoy our Komodaru in any style you desire!
