Originally, Komodaru
was used in Japan in the transportation of Sake, a Japanese
liquor.
The craftsmanship in the construction of Komodaru has been
handed down from generation to generation. Designed in vibrant
bright colors and strong in tradition, Komodaru is now part
of celebrating ceremonies and special occasions in Japan.
Sake was
given a honour and dedicated as Goshinshu; Goshinshu is Sake
for the God: Shin means "the God" and shu means
"Sake'.
In modern Japan there are regular festivals with "Goshinshu"
which can be part of a very unique Japanese custom called
Kagami Biraki.

This custom, Kagami
Biraki, originated from drinking Sake from a cask (Komodaru)
and toasting the god sake Goshinshu.
Kagami Biraki is now used in the celebration of wishing happiness
and success for the future and is usually associated with
the celebrations in the completion of a new home, marriage
anniversaries, wedding parties and much more.
